ipod getting hot while chraging and playing?

when i try to charge my iPod and play it, it starts getting real hot. it wont hold a charge either. please tell me what this is and how to fix it.

something inside it may be messed up...try just leaving it alone for a while to cool...if it still doesnt charge or play and gets hot, return it and get a refund, or send back to apple for them to fix it for a fee$$

yeah..my ipod won't hold a charge either, but wen i plug it into my laptop where itunes isn't downloaded onto it, it starts charging. I don't know about the heating though..mine doesn't do that.
