I certainly didn't! I thought (foolishly I suppose) that people from other countries would come in and adapt largely to the British way of life, while still retaining something of their own culture, and that we could enjoy the best of their cultures. I never considered that our culture would be threatened in any way. Am I wrong in thinking that it IS being threatened? And not so much by the immigrants, as by certain politically correct people in the Town Halls, Schools and other institutions, who insist on changing things to, mistakenly, I think, appease minorities who are NOT demanding these changes. I mean, has anyone ever said "I feel threatened by your Christian Christmas lights and Father Christmas decorations"! And if someone said that to you, would you not fall about laughing?

I think you have summed that up pretty well, what it really boils down to is 'live and let live' !
We all have to face the fact that that multiculturalism is here to stay, of course we will have fanatics and nutters on both sides, ignore them (from all sides)! It will soon be here and to stay, and for those that don't like the idea, I believe there is a space launch leaving soon for some distant planet, why not get on it and do your own thing outside of earth? Take all your different religions with you and argue and fight to your hearts content, dont bring all that hassle back to Mother earth , we dont want it or need it.

well the problem is that we dont know what british culture actually is. traditonal culture? what is UK culture? the scots have got haggis and kilts, the welsh have their barritones and leaks, the english their morris dancers and morcombe and wise. fish and chips? languange? dunno.
the problem is that a lot of these traditions were upheld by the Church. Now that we've evolved into a rational, secular state, there's a vaccum that is starting to get filled by other cultures which still have a strong religious identity. problem is when some people in that faith go on to murder innocent people here. even if these people are Uk born and bred, they feel acculturated and identify with their original faith. which unfortunately, in the case of Islam, has called a jihad. So basically the question should be, is multiculturism an attempt to marry completely incompatible ideas on how to live our lives?
btw im an atheist

No I would not fall about laughing, if any immigrant said that they were offended by anything British, I would just tell them to f*ck off back to where ever they came from, and if any immigrant is offended by this reply, I don't now or never will give a sh!t, thank you and good day.
