I don't think people should be forced to work when they are ill. It infects other workers and is not good for moral. On the other hand an average of 22 days "sick" a year is abusing the system and needs to be sorted. I know of one local council in the UK that allows up to six weeks off for sickness in a year. It asks what is wrong with you? if you don't take the time off!!!!

Well isn't Seaman Staines selfish! I am very disappointed with the attitude of BA, we are due to fly from Newcastle to Gatwick on the 6th Feb for a connecting flight to Sri Lanka and unfortunately we have no alternative but to drive as no other airlines fly to Gatwick from N/cle.

Maybe, but if any employer has a higher than average employee sick rate, then there is something radically wrong somewhere, whether they have a "worse" deal than others is not relevant in your arguement.

currently as I am not planning to fly anywhere, so I don't give a damn, in fact maybe we will save some pollution if the fleet is grounded, but no doubt all the other airlines will increase their activities.....
