no no no no.......
My husband is from Mexico...he has always told me not to tickle our baby because she will be MUTE!!!!! oh brother.

No...stuttering is normal in young kids because often they are thinking much faster than their mouths can spit out the words.

(your dufus theory is correct...she is one)

Tickling does not cause stuttering! Check out the web site of the Stuttering Foundation at www.stutteringhelp.org for great information on stuttering.

No that isn't true. Tickling leads to giggles not stutters. Stuttering is caused when the brain is thinking faster then the mouth can go, and the stutter comes out because it is trying to catch up.

I have never heard this theory before,it sounds highly unlikely. My youngest daughter started stuttering terribly when she was three.By the time she was four it had stopped completely without any treatment. Before that I had always thought stuttering was a bit of a joke, seeing how much stress it caused my little girl taught me a lesson!

You mean if you tickle a baby, he or she will grow up to have a stuttering problem? That is a silly myth that you can debunk for your sister-in-law. There is no basis in truth.

It's false. I tickle my son all the time, even his feet(as most say it's the FEET that if tickled makes them stutter). Stuttering is a speech problem, and simply tickling them cannot cause a speech problem!

How silly! Follow Bud's advice and check out the Stuttering Foundation's web site.

it is just an old wives tale that if you tickle a baby's feet then you will give the baby a stutter, this doesnt mean it is true at all!

No. That appears like an previous better halves tale to me. some ppl say now to not tickle a new child too a lot because they could be able to't communicate to you even as they could be able to't breathe and capture their breath. We tickle our son and it only loves it. you only must be particular you enable them capture their breathes and under no circumstances overdo it. only imagine about even as someone tickles you.

i think that is true, as my mum says that if you tickle a baby's foot bottom, it will effect their speech causing them to stutter
