Through 1857 First war of Independence, Struggle By Indian national Congress - Bal Gangadhar Tilak , Mahatama Gandhi's Non-Violent Satyagraha , efforts by Nehru,Patel,Jinnah( although he later led the Pakistan State Movement ) . Also sacrifices by Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekha Azad and a lot of revolutionaries, and millions of unnamed Indians who were a part of Civil Disobedience and other Non-armed Movements . Last but not the least due to the crippling effects of the Second World War on the British economy and increasing opposition within Britain itself against the Colonial Rule .
All these factors !!

By the sacrifice of lives and properties and the sweat and spilling of blood by millions of our brethren over a period of about 100 years under the leadership of so many patriotic leaders, notable among them was M.K.Gandhi,whom we admire and adore as "The father of the nation".
The first and the second world wars, especially the Nazis of Germaby under the Dictator AdolfHitler and the unwise attack of the Pearl Harbour in America by the Japanese, with the sympathetic attitude of a few English leaders favouring freedom for India ,paved the way for India's Independence on 15th August 1947 from the yokes of British rule

India achieved political freedom after a long and prolonged struggle involving the sacrifice of thousand (both material and physical). You can go through the national archives. But real freedom can be achieved only when India eradicates the evils of poverty, squalor, illiteracy and destitution.
