So basically if I upgraded to sky+ I do not require video recorder is that right. So you tune your tv in through the sky+ and not an ordinary video recorder is that right?

you may like to consider a freeview HDD twin tuner device, this is a freeview set top box with a built in hard drive to replace your VHS machine.
alternatively if you are near an asda and already have a freeview reciever (set top box) then you can replace your VHS with a new one (if you have any tapes you want to watch such as wedding videos, movies etc.)
with a twin tuner machine you get over 70 hours of recording time on average depending on the brand and model you buy, you can also record one channel and watch a recording on the drive or watch another channel.
best part is you can start watching a recording, then stop it half way through (as an example) then resume play from where you left off, no matter how long it has been or hom any recordings made since you were watching the recoding.
I'm speaking here with my sagem PVR6280T (an 80GB storage drive).
ok you may have problems if you do have a weak signal no matter what DVB-T device you buy. (DVB-T =Digital Video Broadcasting Terestrial) AKA freeview and top up TV here in the UK for example.
if you want to use a satelite and not a roof top aerial then you can get a similer device for your satelite dish. or you could even turn your computer in to a digital freeview satelite recorder/ viewer by adding a PCI card. see a site such as http://dabs.com

sky have or had a freeview box listed on the website last time i looked a few months ago. take a look if it is freeview satelite you want. www.sky.co.uk (i think is the address)

good luck
hope it helps.

We've just bought a DVD recorder for that cost around £90. It's slow, frustrating and annoying, but it works quite well. This proves you have to spend at least £150 on any new DVD or Hard disk recorder!

I think a hard disk recorder (or Sky+ as you say) is the best option, no media to store or format. You can get ones with built in DVD drives so you can transfer any recording you wish to keep, then you have the best of both worlds! I would recommend buying a brand name though and not the cheapest product you can find.

Personally though I'm sticking with a VCR until I get a larger screen where the video's resolution no longer gives a decent picture. You throw a tape in, press record and in about a second it's recording, what could be more simple? We've found with the DVDs you have to find a disc with enough space, format the disc if it doesn't, set the record quality so you can fit what you want to record onto the disc and finally press record then wait about five seconds for it to start. I doubt the 'slow' start up is a problem with the more expensive models though.

You must have some freeview service to get the extra channels?

I'd recommend a Hard Drive recorder with the digital receiver built in. I bought one a year ago and it's been great - really easy to use. Look for Humax - they're a relatively unknown name in the UK but produce some of the best recorders, and are cheaper than other more well known brands.

no video recorder has a sky receiver built in, so any video or DVD recorder would do.

It all depends on what you want. You should easily find a replacement video recorder for around £50 (richer sounds maybe). Also there are many combined DVD recorder/ video recorders on the market these days.

If you don't require freeview then richer sounds sell a few and they are one of the cheapest shops out there.

Paranormal interest happens all international and in all hazard top there in England the place you're. purely considering the fact which you're no longer afflicted by ability of ghosts does no longer mean they do no longer exist. My spouse works at a college it particularly is declared to be haunted. lights pass on and rancid, replica machines start up making copies, and another issues. the employees and scholars have grown to settle for it and no-one has been afflicted.
