I'm 31 weeks pregnant, and this will be my first full-term live birth, so yeah, I'm a little nervous about it, but there's no real point in being scared. Being scared isn't going to make the labor any easier, and I figure it's only one day out of my life where I'll have crippling pain. And then I get to see the love of my life! Totally worth it!

Time to get to the antenatal class if you haven't already. The bad news is it can easily come 2 weeks before your DD so start packing now. It's only 2 days out of your life, and you do heal up quickly. Just remember to organise a bit of help for when you come out of hospital such as food and cleaning. The best thing is to be prepared and remember it is a natural process! Epidurals also exist so you don't have to suffer too much. Good luck.

I am about the same weeks as you and I wasn't feeling scared up to this point, but I have been to 2 prenatal classes so far (we are doing it over three weeks--long classes) and it wasn't until I went to the classes that I started to feel more nervous. At first it was just the experience of childbirth itself that scared me, but now I feel a little afraid of the pain aspect as well. Every once and a while I start thinking about how much my life is about to change and that both excites me and scares me. I just keep telling myself that for every person that is walking the face of this planet, there was or is a woman who has been through the same thing that we are going through! Good Luck! Try to take some deep breaths and relax!

I speak from experence. I was scared of labour, before I even got pregnant. During my whole pregnancy, I worried about it. Closer to the end I got, the more scared I got. I went into labour earlier (38 weeks 3 days) by surprise... when it happened I thought "Oh my god.." I wanted to change my mind and go back then. But I got through it. It is painful, but not completely horrible. You will manage to get through it, your body is made for having babies. And honestly, you will forget all the pain. I forgot all the pain like 2 weeks after giving birth. That's probably how women go on to have other children, lol. Try not to worry! Good luck!

My first labour took 28 hours and at the time I remember thinking it was agony and I could never go through it again. 3Months later I found out I was pregnant again and so was even more frightened than the first time but it was so much easier, only 7 hours. Every labour is different so there's no reason why yours should be awful, I mean some women don't even know they are pregnant until one day they go to the loo and a baby literally falls out!
I found the best pain relief in the world is to just shout it out....make whatever noises you feel like and breathe on that gas like there's no tomorrow......and remember at all times, every contraction you go through is one less that you have left!!

Good luck and congratulations.....women would never have more than one child if it was that traumatic!

You may laugh at this but I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my second and I'm very worried to put it nicely. I don't mind the bit that there's going to be another person to look after as-well as my other daughter its the birth as i know what will happen. It was alot better with my first as i didn't have a clue what was going on and i was relying totally on the midwifes. Now i know what to expect i want what i need when I'm in labour! pain relief!

I´m also a first timer and really terrified of giving birth. I´ve looked up all the options and spoke to people and my doc and I´ve decided to go with the epidural. Here is a website that might help you, there is a couple of video´s that you can watch from an epidural to natural birth and then you can decide what will be best for you....

Hope it helps....

I was just thinking about that a few minutes ago. I'm only 13 weeks right now so im trying not to think about it too much...but it is a really scary thought. child birth, i mean. it's a completely new and unknown experience and no matter how many people have done it and how many people tell you about it..you still havent experienced it yet, and you wont truly know what it's going to be like until you're in it. for me the scariest part is the pain. it's like if someone said to you "okay, im going to break your arm now." you know you're going to be in horrible pain and there's only so much you can do about it. of course it's worth it and all that, but it's still completely terrifying.

this is my 5th and I'm worried about it I remember the first time I had no feeling because of the epidural so it seemed easy the past 3 times I've had babies all natural and I really like it that way yeah the pain is horrible I usually want an epidural when it's too late but in the end it's worth it good luck and try to not think of it too much.

I'm not a first time mum but i am pregnant and im am more scared now than i have ever been its been ten years since my last. But you don't think of that when your in labour you just want the baby out. When its all over you,ll think what was all the fuss about. don't worry you,ll be looked after. GOOD LUCK
