You should read about Nikola Tesla.He is the father of alternating current.It was his inventions that developed our modern power distribution systems.
He tried to make wireless electricity but he ran out of money.There was and are a lot of reasons why this wouldn't be a good idea.Too much loss of energy and it would have interfered with radio waves.And I think it would have caused allot of fires because any metal structure that would resonate with it's power would get hot also a lot of other metal stuff could be electrified and people would have been shocked.
Study the Physics of electricity and you will find out why wireless electricity is not a good idea.

During the next major thunderstorm in your area stand outside with a long graphite rod hold it in your hand while on top of a hill pointing at the sky. You can, but power loss is bound to be great. And no point in amplifying a signal if you're after the power, not the message.

because electricity needs something to run current on, if you have no wires, then the current goes no where and the electrical appliance has no input of charges
