I think the humans are the only ones in the nature who can purposefully suffer whatever slings or arrows of misfortune. that makes them to some extent nobler, the realised suffering is what distinguishes them from the animal world.

you're missing the comparison at the end. Is it nobler to suffer the slings and arrows OR (to paraphrase shakespeare ) to do something about it.
