Does anyone else agree that Australia a better country than the United States?

Celebrating Australia Day is celebrating freedom! Celebrating Independence Day is celebrating hypocritical freedom in the form of facism!

crystal: I agree that there are some things in New Zealand that outrank Australia. Notably treatment of native people!

This is a great question! I travel constantly and have been to almost every region in the world and I would agree with your rhetorical question. The reason is that people who have rarely left the USA truly believe they have freedom but the opposite is really the truth. Australia has true freedom (freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of expression)

I don't live in Australia and so my answer may not be all that accurate. But I recall just a few months back how there were riots breaking out in Australia over race issues and people were going nuts beating up non- whites and such. Sounded pretty damn familiar to me. Also there was an article that the Australian gov. wanted to ban the use of the word "bloody" since it cast a negative light on the continent. These things don't speak of freedom to me, but of the same old government oppression that exists all over in varying degrees depending of the person asked. Big Brothers out there are never looking out for the peoples' freedom. They are always searching for a way to oppress the masses without seeming to do with propagandist speeches and lies.

I know absolutely nothing about the Australian government but the people always seem to be pretty happy. It does have that reputation for being this crazy place where 'anything goes'. I've never had a bad thought about that country. I have thought about where I'd move to if I had to leave the US for some reason and Australia is at the top of the list.
