There are two universities in Central Europe where one can get a Ph.D. in Esperanto. I have met one person in the U.S.A. who got a bachelor's degree in Esperanto here in the United States. I have heard of courses at Stanford, University of Texas at Austin, and Rice University, some non-credit and some for credit. I myself have 6 hours of college credit in Esperanto from the School for International Training, which is in Brattleboro, Vermont.

In 2006, the University of New South Wales in Sydney taught Esperanto for the first time.
The course was well attended and enabled some of our Esperantists, who were studying to be Esperanto LOTE teachers, to gain practical skills and to be assessed for their course at the university.
The university has indicated that it would be happy to continue teaching Esperanto.
