The meanest people of all are the friends and family of contestants who are tone deaf and talentless. How many people go on the show believing they can win, only to find out that they're dreadful? They walk off in shock. They're only on the show because their sadistic friends and family have lied to them about their ability. It's the ultimate betrayal, if you asked me.

I don't know about this season, but I've watched some "American Idol Rewind" last year and it seemed like that white British guy judge with the short spiked hair was the most cruel! He's a smart aleck and needs an attitude adjustment! On the other hand, if your a judge for such a show, you have to be at least somewhat tough. The judge who's the black dude seemed to be O.K., and Paula (Abdul) - WOW! You're still looking hot after all these years! The latter two are fair, but firm judges and still treat people like decent human beings. Paula, when are you coming out with another album?

I wasnt aware that just "looking retarded or semi inbred" was a qualification for being disabled.
Of course Idol makes fun of these people, it is how they get their good ratings. Most people will watch shows like that to see the "reterded looking or semi inbred" to make themselves feel better.

I think they make fun of retarded looking people who can not sing. Get a retarded looking person up there who can belt one out and see if they don't clamour over the person. Appearance is important to being a pop star, but; talent is a deal breaker. And just because a person looks retarded doesn't mean that they are in fact mentally challenged. They may just be stupid and talentless, not clinically ill.

The judges make fun of the contestants because, frankly, it gets ratings. Anyone who goes on that show already knows what the judges are like; personally, I feel many of them go on the show knowing that they sing terribly just to get TV time. Do you think those people are really that dumb that they don't know how terrible they sound? It's a TV show, take it with a grain of salt.

There have been times where Simon has over stepped his boundaries and made fun of a contestant. That's wrong!
But, after watching last week auditions in Seattle, truly the only words I can think of are, "what a bunch of freakin' RETARDS!"

I love the show! The other night while watching I found myself appalled by Simon's remarks towards a young "Wanna Be" singer! The guy couldn't carry a note but that was not the worse thing...Simon said "What's up with your EYES, You look like a BUSH BABY"!!! What in the Hell is wrong with him???

They don't make fun of their disability. No one says "haha, you're a retard"... they say "your singing is awful". What's wrong with that? Should they let a mentally retarded person go through to hollywood just because they have the disability, or should they just say no one with mental problems can join in? That wouldn't be fair... and if they let people slide through just because they didn't want to get in trouble for discrimination, most people would get through and it just wouldn't work.
