The other day I was driving home. I always seem to miss a left turn light and have to wait for it to turn green again. It seems to take forever. I thought it would be nice to know just how long the light is red before it turns green again. Unfortunately I didn't have a clock with a second hand handy. I was however able to figure out how long the light was red within about a second, but not until I got home. Any ideas as to what I did?

Why would I have to wait to get home then?. My method is very accurate.

On the right track but simpler than that. the clue is in the question. What are you doing while waiting for the light ot turn green?

You counted the number of times your directional signal went on and off. When you got home you either measured the cycle time of the directional (and multiplied it by the number of times your directional signal had cycled when you were at the light),
or you held a watch (with a second hand) while running the directional signal the same number of times as it had cycled when you were at the light..

truly clock is any gadget that measures time... for this reason measuring time and not using a clock is really no longer conceivable... yet time would properly be measured by technique of creating use of a form of alternative instruments like a pendulum, a candle, even some abode-made instruments which have an basic periodic action ( also noted as an basic harmonic action or SHM )

You were talking on your cell phone, missed the light, became frustrated, recorded digital video with phone, light turns green, you continue driving and have no time to check video length, you arrive at your home, check file on phone for video length, add one second to length time as an estimate to compensate for the delay of beginning the recording process which from experience you could have already known from prior recording sessions.
