There are two types of waves, longitudinal and transverse. Longitudinal, also known as Compression, are sound waves. The main characteristic is that they cannot travel in a vacuum.
Amplitude is how loud the sound is, the decibel is how to measure how loud the sound is. The speed of sound is roughly 344 m/s at room temperature of 20 degrees celsius.
