Turning around itself or around the Sun?
If it stops turning around itself, then
* either everything stops turning, then half of the world will burn and half will freeze;
* or only the solid part stops turning, then everything on the surface including oceans will try to move on. It will be like a worldwide earthquake and huge tsunamis
If it stops turning around the Sun, then it will fall to the Sun

The Earth itself is spinning at about 500 m/sec which is certainly very fast!Imagine standing on a high speeding vehicle and it stops suddenly. You would be flunk out of it!
So if Earth really does stops turning suddenly, we would just be flunk off the ground and everything would be flying around!

to those that argue that gravity could give up - that's inaccurate. Gravity is recent in all matter - whether it is spinning or no longer. in certainty, we could adventure a upward push in weight (reasonable), because of the fact the 'upward' centrifugal tension became bumped off. The Earth has in certainty been slowing down for an prolonged time - because of the effect of friction led to by skill of the shifting tides. Billions of years in the past, an afternoon was over 25 hours! If the Earth stopped abruptly, then the oceans could slop over continents, 1000kph winds could p.c.. up, and the cat could bypass via the wall on a similar velocity. those outcomes does no longer ensue, if of course, the cessation of rotation got here approximately over an prolonged volume of time. as quickly as issues had calm down, each 'day' could final six months, because of the fact the Earth could nonetheless proceed its adventure around the solar. huge winds could style, because of the fact the nice and comfortable air from one area of the globe raced around to the chilly 'dark area', earlier cooling and sinking, and racing returned at floor point to the solar area. this could undoubtably deliver approximately an extinction point journey. maximum, existence could perish, easily the human race, besides the certainty that it may be probable that some existence could proceed to exist interior the oceans, as those could attain an equilibrium average temperature, besides the certainty that ocean currents could be so lots greater ferocious.

The rotation or spinning of the Earth is what gives us gravity.
If the Earth stopped spinning and there wasn't any gravity...what would happen then...would we fall off?
and if we fell off would it be like we were floating upwards in the sky?
but the answer to your Q is there would be a lack of gravity

Well obviously one side of the earth would have no sunlight, one would be very hot. The earth would move out of orbit, the one side of the moon that we see will no longer be there. In short, it's not a good thing.

If it suddenly stops, you will have oceans receding on one side and rising on another. Massive tidal waves. Later you'll have oceans boiling off on one side, freezing on another, glaciers breaking off and flowing into the ocean that rages to the other side of the world (only to boil off again).

reaction to the guy above, where on earth did you learn that? We have gravity whether the earth spins or not.
