Short-term political and commercial interests taking priority over long-term considerations such as environmental preservation and social responsibility.

Politicians think in 4-year bites, while CEO's only think as far as the next financial reporting cycle. Because their jobs are on the line, they will ALWAYS make the decision that reflects best on them. They will always strive for better profits, populist decisions etc.

This is not something that we can solve easily either, because our entire system of government, business and indeed lifestyle is structured around it. We are a quick-fix, pop-a-pill society, rarely willing to delay our short-term gratification towards greater long-term sustainability and advantage.

In my opinion biggest threat to mankind is disunity and lack of understanding among people. There is no issue which can be settled amicably. We have to work with missionary zeal for love and peace. Politicians have their own interest. They have great responsibility. It is at people level we can promote positive thinking.

I think the biggest threat to man kind is ourselves.Man has got to the place where he thinks he knows more than God.In some cases he thinks he better then God.We have lost sight of why we were created. That was for God's pleasure. We do not belong to ourselves we belong to Jesus Christ. He died for all mankind. This whole world is turning away from God .Everybody is caught up in the things of the world which are temporary.Instead of heavenly things which are eternal.

I would say the biggest threat to out mankind is the damage we do to ourselves. Come to think of it animals, birds and plants dont needs fuel, They do not need plastic, they do not need nuclear weapons. although this planet is a home to all animals, birds, plants and humans, i say humans make this earth endangered not only for ourselves but also make earth a volatile place for all other living things.

We are our own greatest threat
