Aloe vera, Latin word meaning "true aloe" is reputed to be most medicinally beneficial and therapeutic. The active ingredients obtained from the gel of the leaf are grouped together under the term "aloin", whose complex and varied make-up is responsible for its ability to treat a wide range of disorders. One enzyme acts against destructive elements present around a wound or bruise, for example, while another is able to break down inflammation. It has been used for centuries as laxative and is beneficial in dealing with digestive ailments.

It is said that aloe vera contains sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, phosphorus, glucose, protein, magnesium and zinc; also that the protein in aloe vera contains 18 of the 23 amino acids found in the human body.

I believe Aloe Vera (inner leaf gel - only) is primarily (wound) healing. The active component is a sugar: Mannanose.

I believe a better chance for your brother's body to heal itself, would be to supplement his diet with Ambrotose, a blend of 8 sugars that are needed in/on all cells, in all organs, all the time. You may look for more information on www.glycoinformation.com or get back to me directly.

Oh yes, I am a active Mannatech partner, trying to spread the information to as many people as possible.
