I have had some of the best experiences of my life on acid. But I would never do it again until i re-wire my brian to be less negative. Last time i did mushrooms I kinda scared me. That was the highest I have ever been. And remaining sane seemed to be a struggle.

I have had many profound and positive experiences from taking LSD - I use it no more than 3 or 4 times a year, and I usually take it with 2 or 3 good friends - we choose a positive, beautiful environment - for the last one we went mountain biking through a forest and ended up on a deserted beach with breathtaking views. The visuals were amazing, and the feeling of appreciation for the beauty and perfection of nature from all those experiences has remained with me.

I have tremendous respect for those people risking their freedom and reputation by manufacturing and distributing LSD

I had a headache for five days after taking part in a native indian "sweetgrass ceremony". Talk about a hangover. But the actual ceremony and shortly after it (once I could stop laughing like a maniac over nothing) was kind of kewl. I don't regret it but I don't think I'd go out of my way to do it again.

You're probably going to get reported for asking a drug related question, but before you do I have to say I like the avatar. Cool use of LED technology and optics.

In answer to your main question, no and yes; although I know plenty of people for whom the answers were yes and no.

If it's a struggle to maintain sanity, then LSD and other hallucinogens are definitely not a good idea. It sounds like you know this already.

though I did take hallucinogenic drugs as a young adult, the best profound discoveries I have had are the ones gained through worship, intercession, dreams and visions and even angelic visitations.
