mantle.
did you know that a sky diver would take over 24 hours falling to reach the inner core? crazy but true, if you could fall at terminal velocity through the earth.
the outer core is liquid metal and produces our polar magnetism. the inner core is metal too, but because of the intense pressures involved cannot stay a liquid but is a solid core.
some scientists believe that the core has a center of uranium that because it is heavier than the rest of the elements in the center has condensed there. this core of uranium is releasing energy that is liquefying the outer core and produced the currents of heat that create the magnetics. once the core uranium runs out we are doomed. the solar winds will no longer be deflected by the magnetic polarity and we will die very quickly.
welcome the new Mars.
anyway, hope that makes you sleep better.

properly, its ordered because of the fact the crust, mantle, inner center, and outer center. the two cores are separate because of the fact they are made in a different way, yet besides the mantle is the middle point and the mantle must be broken right down to the lithosphere and the asthenosphere.
