No, a Republic. They understood that a democracy quickly collapses because of the ease with which the general public can be manipulated by propagandists. The Constitutional Convention determined the nature of the new government.

No, they did create a pretty advanced representative government. Democracy is a general term that requires participation from citizens. There is no law requiring voting, for example, so this is not a true democracy. The Constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation to secure America with a drafted army, and to be able to raise taxes.

No, the framers of the US Constitution created a republic. A true democracy is where Any person can walk onto the senate or house floor and propose legislation and any other person can walk in there and support or oppose it. In a republic such as we have the law making process is delegated to our elected representatives. Moreover in a democracy the majority rules, sadly in our republic we are ruled by minorities and I don't mean racial ones I mean such as labor unions and other lobbyists.

no ben franklin, it is said told a woman who asked what kind of gov. did you give us?. "a republic if you can keep it." a democracy is rule by majority. lets say 51% of the people though that they should never have to work and all money should be thiers. what would that make you? YOU WOULD BE A SLAVE.

Actually they created a democratic republic. We elect those who will represent us in the Government positions.
