Wikipedia is run by a non-profit organization called the Wikimedia Foundation. The vast majority of their revenue comes from small public donations made by thousands of people throughout the year and especially during fundraising drives. There was one a few weeks ago which raised over $1 million in three weeks.

Also, a few companies, including Wikia and Yahoo, donate money or servers to Wikimedia. There is a list of large donors at http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Benefactors
