Its got to be Mozart!!!! He was a genius! He wrote comic operas, dazzling concertos, some light, night music and solemn requiems. He was a child prodigy who was playing and composing before other children could write. And what a crazy personality he had....way ahead of his time.
Its funny that you are not an opera buff, therefore you thought that you'd try and raise the standards a bit. Dont put yourself down! I'm sure that you can think of a subject that you find interesting and enjoy. Stick to discussing them hon. There are plenty of people who will find you interesting and want to answer your questions.
All the best :o)
Yes Mozart would have been 251 tomorrow...if he wasnt dead Hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

greater advantageous what? They have been 2 distinctive composers living and dealing in completely distinctive time and stipulations. It does not even make solid experience to ask which of the two is a greater robust composer. And no, this is not virtually compositional form. Puccini purely centred on opera, Mozart mastered the whole classical form. maybe Puccini could have performed comparably properly writing sonatas or symphonies or concerti, yet he did no longer and we will on no account comprehend. whilst Puccini had the luxurious of attending to %. his initiatives, Mozart became limited by ability of value from the aristocrats. it is mindless arguing who's greater powerful than who. Why no longer take exhilaration in the two and appreciating all the diverse issues they provide you? Why make arts into opposition? this is entertainment... you will be able to wish one, and others might want the different. So what? we are fortunate we've the variety to elect between at diverse time.

They are both brilliant and I honestly could not choose between the two. If I had to, I'd give the heads up to Mozart.
However, nothing in this world transcends Beethoven's "Ode To Joy" in Symphony #9. It is sublime.

Puccini.
His harmonies are sublime, and Mozart is predictable and boring in comparison.
Madam Butterfly, Tosca, Turandot, are all so much better than The Magic Flute and Don Giovanni.

I'm going with Douglas on this one. I think Puccini's are better. I love Madam Butterfly.

Puccini, probably, although "In Uomini, In Soldati" from Cosi fan Tutti may be one of my favorite arias.
