To expand on Son of a Mitch's answer, some examples would be Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, that sort of person. 'NSync and Backstreet Boys are one of the most recognizable manufactured pop groups, because (at least in the case of BSB) the members didn't know one another, but were put together by Lou Perlman to create a boy band.

American Idol winners are another good example.

One thing about manufactured pop stars is that they could have a horrible voice but it wouldn't matter. With music software like Pro Tools and Logic, you can fix notes in the program without them having to be sung correctly. If a singer is flat or sharp on notes, they can set the program for what key is the correct key for the song and then fix the notes one at a time that way. Many singers do lip sync when on TV or in concert, and so who knows if we are even hearing the real voice that someone's born with!

Soulja boy IS pop-rap, this is uncomplicated pop melodies placed below uncomplicated rapping. in case you went by potential of the coolest meaning someone like Nas might want to be pop-rap because he's primary. So it comes right down to this. Pop potential primary definite.. this is the dictionary definition, yet in modern-day circumstances this is getting used more effective to describe track meant to promote or like you reported dancish. Techno is 'dancish' in spite of the undeniable fact that this is not pop.. so this is in reality stuff like the sh!t popping out of the Disney Channel, Britney, Timberass etc...

Basically, an artist that's been "assembled" by a record company. Either a group they put together or a singer that's given the record company's songwriters, musicians, and promotion to sell albums/singles.
