Yes, Ruroni Ken... and Samurai x revolve around the same person, but one is more on the comic side while the other is much darker.

Inu Yasha is a Rumiko Takahashi, who specializes in light romantic comedies. As for her other work, I'd suggest Ramna 1 1/2 if you want alot of comedy and overdone unrealistic fighting(anime unrealistic?!?). Between Kenshin and Inu Yasha, I'd suggest Fushigi Yuugi. It gives a you 52 episodes(as I recall) of fighting, adventure, nice story line, rivalry, betrayal, comedy, romantic frustration, and alternates between typical anime comedy to some darker, serious moments. If you want to go really, REALLY good and dark, try Berserk. Plenty of fighting, serious characters, and it starts getting very very dark and serious. Ignore the first episode as the intro, as the rest of the season shows how the main character got there in the first place.
Nothing is going to give you all of those combined. The mention of Inu Yasha and Kenshin tend to suggest that you appreciate some lighter humor, which is why I suggest FY. Good luck.

Rurouni Kenshin and samurai x are one in the same or at least they revolve around the same guy.
