The Bush bashing sickens me. Americans were screaming for blood after the trade center attacks, myself included. Someone had to pay. Iraq needed dealt with. Afganistan also. We are losing men but make no mistake, we control those countrys now.

Do you americans think for even a moment that the arab nations give an ounce of concern for us? They dance in the street when we lose a life! Bush is cleaning up a mess that should have been fixed by his father. Even the clinton administration could have done something.

This is the world changed forever. The brainwashed muslim extremests are here to stay. If 9/11 didnt wake you up what will? Lets stop being afraid and take care of iran and korea, before it touches you personally.

People are bashing Bush for different reasons, not just because he 'decided' to declare a war. I personally do not feel he's doing a very good job of cleaning up this 'mess' and, if anything, he's only added to it. I will add that I have no idea what we can do about any of it at this point and I don't see how any president can easily clean it up.

I'm not as much sickened by war in general as much as I'm bothered that the focus seems to constantly be shifting. I'm sometimes disturbed when I hear Bush go on and on about how Americans are there to 'help' these countries now and that we want them to have freedom. 'Operation Iraqi Freedom' was an embarrassing name since we all know we don't give a damn about spending billions of dollars just to 'help' the citizens of a some Middle Eastern country. We have spent too much time, money and energy on another countries civil war and I'm failing to understand the importance anymore. I'd rather hear Bush say 'these people are a threat and we must control them' than hear 'oh, we care and want to help them'. I'm not even sure who he's trying to lie to, the Americans or the Iraqis.

I really wish that Bush would continue to explain how, exactly, this is going to prevent another 9/11 rather than continue blabbing on about how this is 'good' for the Iraqi people. If this is all part of a larger plan, he's not doing a very good job of getting that across. That's why I assume he's lost so much support. You can't expect people to support a war when they no longer see how it's going to be beneficial for us in the end.

I'm afraid a major mistake was made and I do blame the Bush administration though someone else could have easily made the same mistake. I believe we have made a lot more people angry with us now than there were before and we're stuck in a terrible spot. If we leave, they'll seek revenge. If we stay and try to 'keep peace' soldiers will keep dying and the hate for the US will only grow. I don't know what the hell we are supposed to do now.

*Sadly, I agree that it's a 'lost cause' and that the only solution at this point is somewhat of a 'final solution' where we completely annihilate that part of the world. I'm afraid we may be headed for that, even if it doesn't happen anytime soon. I just hope I'm not around to see it.

You bring up some valid points, but the bottom line is: has the level of worldwide terrorism decreased even a little bit because of our presence in the Middle East? Of course the answer is no. Second question: is Iraq any better off today than during the Hussein dictatorship? Yes and no, I suppose.

In my humble opinion, Iraq is a lost cause. There's only ONE way to stop terrorism, and that's to totally annihilate each and every person involved in it and each and every person supporting it in any way. Of course that can't be done with turning the Middle East into a vast, flat plain of radioactive glass.

I don't know if you remember Viet Nam or not, but the parallels between it and Iraq are stunning to say the least. Oh yes, we lost there too.

It's actually quite interesting to listen to people debate this. "Oh, I hate Bush. Bush only cares about oil and money". And then they tell everyone else to quit watching the news and believing it. Actually, I don't get my information from the news. I come from two army brat parents, whose fathers are both heavily educated with regard to Iraq and military issues. In addition, my brother is a Private in the Army and just served a one year tour. I can promise you, that as much as he hates being there, he knows why we are. Until you've been there and seen the people, I think it's hard for people to judge. Why don't people stop listening to the conspiracy theorist types and let go of the "we are at war for oil" idea.

The argument behind fighting in Iraq is that Suddam was funneling money to terrorist organizations (including all his other humanities crimes) and was in support of Al-Qaeda. Think about it. If you just kill all the terrorist members, others will replace them. But if you break down their foundation, take away their financial support, it is much more difficult to continue.

People need to give Bush and the government a break. Everyone in America agreed with the war when it started. Now, they hate Bush for it. People die in war; if they didn't it wouldn't be war, it would be cub-scouts.

And while Democrats complain that Bush Sr. did nothing and allowed Saddam to keep pulling B.S., then George W. started the war, my question is: During his eight years in administration, what did your president (Clinton) do to control or solve the situation?
