Try closing any programs that run on the background of your PC, especially if you only have 512 MB RAM. If Auto Updaters (Windows or other program(s)) are on, turn them off as they take up a lot of your connection bandwidth.
Check your firewall settings. Lower the protection when you play WoW, only remember to reset it again when you log off.
While ingame, lower the graphics of the game as much as possible. They take a lot of your RAM to display things properly and this creates a lagging effect. Some times though, the server is so full that no matter what you do there will be lag. This tends to happen a lot in places with large concentrations of players (such as cities).
Try updating your graphics card with the latest drivers .
Disk defragment can really help your PC performance, even with online games, as it rearanges the hard disk and makes it easier for your PC to obtain in-disk data. (should be done every 15-20 days)
If all else fails, try formating your disk and reinstalling Windows. It always brings the PC to a better operational level than before.
Also, think about getting an extra RAM card. It will really boost your PC to new speeds.
Thats all that I can think of. Good luck!

Mostly this is caused by lag which is because there are too many people in one area for the WOW server to keep up with it. If you are not experiencing the same problem in other areas of the game, then there is not much you can do. If you are experiencing the problem, the most likely thing you can do it to increase your RAM, that is probably the most common. You should have at least 512MB on your system now. Other things that can be done to improve your gaming experience could even include the addition of a video card if you do not already have one. Just remember if your computer runs the game fine everywhere outside crowded areas, adding these things will not help your problem, WOW will just have to work on that from their end.

Lag in cities is usually your processor not being able to keep up with rendering all the characters in the city, not the WoW server. I would check your graphics card and reccommend at least a gig of RAM. I used to disconnect from lag while in BWl during the phase2/3 transition at the Nefarian fight (all those constructs). when I got a computer with one gig instead of 768 meg or RAM, I no longer disconnect, and my framerate is better. tio se framerate in game hit crtl-R anything over 20 fps is okay and you won't have that much lag. I used to run 10 or less in certain cities and had to avoid Ironfogre, now I run 40 in the cities,(pre-BC) and all I did was get more RAM and a better graphics card. Routine defragging does help performance too.

The problem is that in cities there are other people who are laggers so it tends to slow other users as well but if u wana lag less get a broadband connection with a higher bandwidth.

Maybe if you would not ask the same question so many times, your computer would be able to catch up with its graphics since the repetitive factor would drop significantly along with the modulator tweeter valve along the xervix cortex biased gender taping. Wheeew!! i am out of breath.
