Broaden your horizons beyond close friends and family. Find others to associate with that may have more of an open schedule as you do. That way you can be the one who is "too busy" or "can't reply" because your schedule will be booked up. I would say try not to take the rejections personally, especially from loved ones. They actually may be too busy to have social life. Also try to give them more than a week's notice. I know I have a busy life, and at times I have to say "no". It's not like I want to, it's just that sometimes I can't do things I'd like to do. I would say meet more people with similar interests who could have the time to do the things you'd like to do and when.

I have a simular situation. I call myself the black sheep and my kids are included in it too, which is very low on their part. At least I know why my family doesn't come around or invite me, except at christmas. When I was 15 my step mother started the rumor that I was on drugs and sleeping around. It ruined all family bonds and they wouldn't even let me around the younger kids. I'm still pissed about it cuz I've never slept around or done anything other than try pot and not till after the rumor was started. Is it possible that something simular is going around in your family? Ask a cousin or aunt or somebody you know has trouble lying.

it might be the way your bring things up, the way you ask. Today I was gonna ask this friend to watch a dance performance with me at school. I didnt run into her tho (new friend, no number or anything). And I BET YOU that without the right wording or way to bring up the topic, there could have a been a solid No as an answer...

Are you fun to be around? that could be a reason for all the rejection! Another reason could be, your friends and family have lives to live... And atleast when they are free they let you know... Imagine if they didnt call on you AT ALL! Sometimes you've just got to take what you can get... We cant always have things our way.

As you say, you are EXPECTED to attend family gatherings...
Maybe you should be a jerk and tell them no... Don't go to family gatherings and don't accept their invitations...
Get some new friends that appreciate you and respect you more...

The world is just too busy. Holidays almost obligate you to see Family. They still love you, just stop trying to make plans and they'll start a-callin'!

Well, as for this situation, this is what we call "the game of destiny"... Time is fooling you around... But, if I were to ask, don't look for the right one for you, 'cause you might pick the wrong one... Let them be the one to get near you, because you cannot choose love... Love chooses YOU!!!...

You sound really wonderful and you don't deserve to be treated less than what and who you are - Have you in a joking way expressed your feelings or maybe just plain asked ? ---- We teach people how to treat us ---- I learned that the hard way - Bless you truly --
