may I ask for my personnel folder after being let go from a job without just cause

Absolutely! I work in Human Resources and your former employer is required by law to provide you with a copy of everything in your file that YOU have signed. If there are documents in there that you haven't signed, then they do not have to provide you with copies of those, but they do of the others. So at a minimum, you should get copies of your application, signed offer letter, and all signed performance reviews.

Call your HR person and get that file!! Good luck!

Although the employee file contains information about you, it actually belongs to the company. You can certainly ask for it, but I don't think there's any way they will give it to you.

I firmly believe that information is yours and you are entitled to it. Now, that your gone I don't know what the policy is for that. I would certainly ask them. Even if say they give you your file. Whose to say they don't take things out of your file mysteriously so you never get to see what you really want to find.??? Don't know just asking though.
