There are stacks and stacks of newspapers,
mags, books he never reads.
Stuff piled chest high in the office, no space in five file cabinets (each have five drawers)
Stacks of videos (never opened), an immaculate yard but the inside of the house he could care less about. I'd like to rearrange furniture but he won't help me move it.
Funny thing is he's impeccable about the way he looks whenever we go anywhere.
He gets mad if I 'ask' him to help me clean all his mess up, and got really mad when I boxed up some 20 year old vidoe's and books.
You'd have to see his stash to believe it.
And he keeps buying more, so whats the deal here!!

just box everything up neat and clean and move it to a storage facility when he isn't looking. I know someone who is married to a person like this and it is crazy. They keep salt packets and napkins from fast food bags. Their house burned down and he tried to save the cereal from the cabinet and still pulls out stuff that smells like smoke over a year later to use. OCD.

Either that, or since he is so worried about what outward appearances to other people, start having company over as much as you can. Invite the neighbors, etc. Maybe that will embarass him into cleaning up his inside act.

I am sorry you have to go through this because I see how stressful it can be. The best I can say is to take control, so YOU are happy.

Worst case try to get that show that does interventions and some family over and confront him (with or without the show :p ) You really need to make him understand, because marraige is a partnership, and suppose to have equal effort. He is not complying to his end of the bargain.

Best wishes.

This sounds like "depression sickness". Is he old enough for that? Or could he have gotten it from his parents? Folks who are old enough to have lived through the Great Depression had so little that whatever it was that they had, they hung onto. Some folks were never able to let go of the behavior and just continued being a pack-rat forever.

You might have a quiet, calm chat with him about why it's so important to have things this way. If that doesn't work, it might be time for some professional assistance.

Your partner might have a mild form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD. It sounds like you two need to go to couples counseling to hash this out. This is also turning into a potentially hazardous situation; supposing one of you gets hurt, and you have to call 911? Supposing there is a house fire? The amount of paper and videos in the house could turn it into a bonfire in no time. There's also the factor of mice and rats feeding off the papers, to turn the house into unliveable in time. Get some counseling; if that doesn't help, you may need to find other accomodations--without him. Good luck and God bless.

You must be married to the same man that I am!I like to fake like I am doing the stuff myself or act as if I am going to hire another man to do it for me.Sometimes acting sickly helps too.It allows you to whine about all that is making you upset.
