I don't think so.
If anything it help language, people learn how inflections in the voice and body movement can be representative of what the speaker is saying, even if it is sarcasm.
My best friend uses Sarcasm constantly, I can see though it and understand what he is really means.
only people I know who disapprove of Sarcasm are the ones with thin skin and no ability to understand the meaning behind Sarcasm. The also reject sarcasm as a legitimate form of speech.

Given that some authors, such as Dorothy Parker, excelled at sarcasm, it can be considered a minor literary form. When told that Calvin Coolidge had died, she asked "How could you tell?" -- which is considered by many to be an excellent witticism, albeit sarcastic.
I suspect, however, that merely vicious sarcasm, lacking in wit, would be poisonous, since it would have no redeeming value.

For those who use it , obviously , it is not.It could be a poison , for those who are the target of these sarcasms .According to some theologists ,seen as saints , irony is a form of comunication , that belongs to the devil. But Jonathan Swift who wrote ''Guliver's travels''used to be even a priest along his life , and also worked for a king ,- usedto use great ironies along this opera . Even kings are the targets of his ironies .
So I think that a very little form of irony , can be used , if you respect the person , if you love that person , and if the person continues to be your equal ...A mean an irony like a little inocent joke ..For e.g.I didn't like what my hiusband brought me from a trip abroad, and I told him that next time he better bring me a tie ..which is an article to dress for men , not for women...I wanted to say that he brought me clothes and articles that are being influenced by masculine fashion, and that he made a choice as a man , not a choice for a woman ....But I saw from his face that he didn't like this irony...So I think ..that irony can be used only if the person who is the target of this irony , is also a very intelligent person and you accept it , and you use the irony as something that brings entertainment and relax .Actualy an irony shows that you think the oposite ...well we can think the oposite but take care that the one who is our target can be even more intelligent ...

Poisonous, no. It adds texture to language just the same way obnoxious people somehow add spice to life. Without them, it's just plain dull. Besides, sarcasm is also used in friendly banter wittingly.
