Titanic is the worst movie I have ever seen. The only consolation for having to sit through three hours of that poorly written tripe is that all of the characters die a slow painful death. The sets were beautiful don't get me wrong, but do you think they could have spent more than two dollars on the script? Perhaps studied the culture of the nineteen teens a bit? If I could change one scene in that movie it would be at the very end when the Kate Winslet Character as an old lady drops the stone into the water, I would have the Bill Paxton Character catch the stone, grab the lady by the scruff of the neck & elastic waistband of her pants, & bum's rush her A** into the drink! DRIVEL! Yes I hated Titanic.

I think it was arbitrarily taken off by directors and screen writers as movie making became more sophisticated, and there was also the problem of making sure the viewing public was aware of all the names of the people who were responsible for making the movie possible (list of credits)
If you put the "The End " sign right after the movie, every single viewer will stand up and leave the theater, and you want them to watch the last few minutes of the credits.

I think that film editor thought that it didn't bring anything to the movie and that people would assume that when the credits roll you would know that the movie is over. I pretty sure that the termination of "THE END" really happened a while before the age of sequeals became the norm.

We'll know when it is end. That's why we started to get up the chair and leave the theater, or if we are at home that's when we are going to change to another channel.
