I'm not entirely sure how to add square roots like lets say I wanted to add (sq. rt.(80) + 6 + sq. rt. (68))/2. I was able to simplify it to (4sq.rt.(5) + 6 + 2sq.rt.(17))/2 but I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do. I'm not sure of my next step either. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Just take it one more step to 2√5 + 3 +√17. That's as far as you can go without actually evaluating the roots.

yes,you are right.Just divide the expression by 2 and you get your answer which is 3+2sqrt(5)+sqrt(!7)
