Marvel Comics are by far my favourite, and I don't even read DC.

I love reading the Avengers and X-Men. There are about five series of X-Men at the moment, 'X-Men', 'Uncanny X-Men' and 'Astonishing X-Men' are really good right now.

As for vampires, there is Blade. So if you like vampires, you've probably seen the films. Blade started off in a Spider-Man comic and just last week his own comic was a tie-in with Civil War. (Civil War is a huge event happening across the Marvel universe.) I think it was a number 1, and so it's the beginning of his own ongoing series.

Anita Blake, if you've read the books, has been made into a comi by Marvel.

There are also comics of Angel and I think they might still be doing Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

If you go into a comic store, you'll see Blade and Anita Blake in the Marvel section, but also browse the indies.

Have fun! :D

If you're looking for vamp comics you have a couple choices:

Blade (Marvel)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel (Dark Horse)
Bite Club (DC/Vertigo)
30 Days of Night (IDW Publishing)

I don't know too much about the titles except Buffy and Angel are self contained stories based on the show. Also the concept for 30 Days of Night is interesting (vamps invade a small town in Alaska during the time of the year where there is no sunlight for a month).

As far as good books to check out, here are a few titles that I've been reading regularly:

52
Justice League of America (vol. 2)
Astonishing X-Men
The Authority
New Avengers
X-Men

IDW Publishing is producing a fantastic line of comic titles now. They have comics based on CSI, Star Trek, and Transformers, all well written and pretty good quality artwork that is not to hard on a non-comic book fan's eye. Also you said that you like vampire comics... Well, IDW is ideal for you! With comics based on Angel and Spike from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe, and original series like 'CVO: Covert Vampire Operations' & 'Thirty Days of Night' IDW also has a pretty good live of different types of horror comics. CHECK IT OUT!!!

30 Days of Night is still the high water mark of vampiric horror comics. Written by horror writer Steve Niles and gritty bloody art by Ben Templesmith. From the almost silly concept (Vampires go to Northern Alaska to enjoy a month of pure night.) it evolves into a vicerally frightening and fast packed horror story that rivals most movies.
Forget all that psuedo-superhero crap people are sugggesting and just trust me on this one.
30 Days of Night is published by IDW. You can probably even pick it up in most bookstores if your local comic shop does not carry it.

X-Factor when Havok was dealing with the alternative universe with the vampire Storm. Or that Superman issue when Dracula is trying to turn Superman into a vampire. Batman has a good graphic novel series with Dracula. DC has Bite Club which is a good Vampire series.
