I never really got the point.
(For all I know, you're going to call me obtuse....)
Hell, I could wrap the Bundestag in a giant garbage bag, too--would that make me an artistic genius or just a successful self-promoter?
The most troubling trend in art, in my bumbling opinion, is the tendency for even the most talentless and visionless to be able to claim to be artists and to have such claims accepted.
Think of yourself--is your drive to create and express really going to be satisfied by slapping your name on a large pile of hard candy or a tin can packed with your own feces?
As I often say, we have come to a place where "art" is whatever an "artist" says it is, and an "artist" is anyone who claims to be.
Any real artist, any person who has struggled to master form and technique to express a vision, should find the current state of affairs insulting.
(like I said, you can go ahead and call me obtuse now....)

I do. I think he is very relevant. Not the kind of artist whose work would fit in your home. I like the fact that his works are for free moving masses of people. Not indviduals. Very affecting to see these installations in person.
