The value of having a lot of yahoo answer points is the invaluable feeling of feeling good. Getting some points even just a point for a "piece of your mind" is self-gratifying, notwithstanding the fact that the impact of your answer to some relevant questions may turn out to be life changing. Besides, YQ&A is such a game for me as it may be too to so many. I enjoy answering questions especially those that appears and appealed to me as important to the asker.
I really enjoy receiving as I enjoy giving and a point or two for a piece of my mind is already worth something for me. Shouldn't it be?

I don't know what the points are for, but answering to people makes me feel useful sometimes. I like it. In fact, I didn't post any questions yet, I just like to read and eventually answer other's.

It could be shown to people as an achievement of some kind, also you can show your serious and jenuine answers given from time to time to an interviewer, (where you go to ask for a job) and that can help him/her to know you properly. Your answers can tell other people that what type of person you are and what your calibre is.

u should not think of it like this.giving the points in y! answers gives u desire to answre more ,to ask more and learn more.
so giving point acts like driving force for u which u wouldn't have when there is no such a system.
