Set in America.A family buy a perfect dream home. Set within a gated community of houses. The grass is immaculate, there is no litter, no crime. The housing management enforce strict guidelines. One man goes mad and either allows his grass to grow or litters his drive. The mess is cleared up during the day and he mysteriously disappears that night. The neighbours are aware of sinister goings on ,the new family are not. I think the houses were built with spy cameras in them for the management to watch , even the grass sprinklers had them in. I think that there was a curfew, disguised as some way of keeping crime out but it was when the management did their 'clean up' a refuse van would take away trouble makers. Any ideas?

Oh MY GOD!!! That would be "The Colony" with John Ritter and Mary Page Keller!! They move to a self-proclaimed violence-free haven overseen by a godlike businessman, Hal Linden of Barney Miller fame!! Yee Ha!! Made for TV....1995!!!

It sounds exactly like an Outer Limits episode I saw with Amber Tamblyn, except for the man littering.

It's called "The Colony" starring John Ritter. Freakly little movie! Had forgotten all about that until you brought it up. It was made-for-TV.

Here is a link with all the info on cast, etc.
