i am not passing judgement on whether we should have entered iraq in the first place. but, if we were to pull out now the u.s. would become weaker, and with the amount of terrorist groups still in the middle east, we would be asking for a terrorist attack on the u.s.

The war in Iraq should have continued as soon as the Iraqi people established their own government -- which was suppposedly done over a year ago.
Japan became a very valuable ally of the United States less than five years after we bombed the daylights of that nation. Why? Because we didn't keep armed troops in the streets long after the peace treaty was signed. Amazing how treating a defeated nation with respect can be richly rewarded.
One quick comparison with another superpower from the distant past: Alexander the Great managed to build and maintain a very large and powerful empire because he treated defeated peoples with decorum and respect. But when he got "po'ed" at Rome and burned the city to the ground after a long siege and battle, his empire began its quick decline to ruin.

It needs to end badly, but the feasibility of that happening without leaving the country weak and torn by the vagaries of civil war only to result in a despotism and dictatorship like the world has never seen, is about one and the odds of bush not getting re-elected (provided he could run again). What I say is we need out but we've dug ourselves into a mighty deep pit and the Iraqi government is not doing much to build the proverbial "ladder" to get us out. Now I must address Lezlie Macâ¢'s answer, while there are some Republicans who think bush is God's gift to humanity, the majority including most of the influential members in politics have turned from Bush and his doctrines. In fact I'm a Republican and proud of it, but I in no way support the sens less killing field Iraq is fast becoming. And, I know I'm not alone in this opinion everyone I talked to is anti-Bush, with a smattering of exceptions. So yes get out of Iraq as fast as possible; however don't leave the country to become worst that it started, or Iraq could become the first official terrorist state.

In my honest opinion I think they need to pull our troops out of Iraq. I admit i'm a Democrat and that's what every Democrat is saying - to pull the troops out.
I work for a political phone survey company and I am doing these surveys all day about problems going on and I call every state and I hear the opinions of Republicans who cleary have NO clue what they're talking about.
And, it just shows how many stupid people there are who agree with Bush and think he's "one of the best presidents we've ever had." Which I find absolutely REPULSING.
They need to pull the troops out, focus on our own country, and use the technology that we have to invest in alternative energy.

Of course, the war in Iraq should come to an end..The US govt. must apologize to the Iraqis for the trouble they have caused.. There must be peace in the minds of the Iraqis, then only the rest of the world can enjoy peace!!

It should end. I heard people say that by pulling out, we would becoem weaker. well we need our troops home for their safety and ours. We need to strenthen our borders and stop wasting money on no good nonsense. We have already accomplished what we came there to do, so let's pull out. Or else we are looking at anothe r Vietnam.

It should have ended a long time ago but was grossly miscalculated by the American president and his defense secretary. It should be stopped.
