If you have a web based mail system (like Yahoo, Hotmail etc), then 'by default' your address book and all your mail (including the 'archived' mail you 'saved' to named folders) is held at Yahoo etc. NOT on your PC.
Of course anything you 'downloaded to PC' will have gone from the PC itself, but your eMail account (and all the messages that you didn't delete) will still be waiting for you to log-in...
If you have been using Outlook (or similar) then any 'Local Archive' or 'Local Address book' (& similar) will have gone. But again, new folders you created within the email system to 'save' mail to, are by default, created on the mail server (not your PC) - so chances are you still have most of your old mail waiting for you.

It possible, but it is hard to read it in code, in the old days I used a program utility, but now days it may have been formated encrypted to protect the user, it depends on if it was a military format and more than likely it was if you used the Microsoft format disk from windows 98 boot disk, and with that you can not recover it with out military help.
And because of this, this is Y I have a 10 gig web based email acount x 10 emails so I basicly have a 100 gigs + 500 megs for pictures, I get about 5, thousand spam emails a week that just go in my spam box, with out the filter I would be lost.

Hmm... so you're saying that you had email addresses on your computer and formatted it, erasing the data.
Well, on your email account you have some record of sent messages, addresses, and received messages, depending on your settings. I suggest going through these and salvaging as many addresses as possible.
In the future, make sure you back up your data to a hard disk, flash drive, or the internet.
Hope it goes well.
God bless.

Probably not if they were saved on the address book on your PC. If you download the email again from your email address this will give you the email you had before the format (as long as you haven't removed them from the email server)

If theres no record in your e-mail account, check out Snapfiles for data recovery software; some can recover data from drives that have been formatted. But the results aren't guaranteed.

A format wipes your annoying force clean as a clean computing device. you ought to establish mail software lower back.. Saving a lower back-Up in you computing device is like saving Dish-Water? as quickly as the plug is pulled each little thing is going down the drain. Use a Flash force for lower back-up. jr

There is "unformat" command in coomand promt. You can use it throught the instalattion cd.
Make sure you save all the data if you use this way.
