What have you done in a pinch that really worked?

I saw a girl (a student) at school picking out cans from the trash cans... my can collect is worth a whopping 5.00$ I've got 900$ to go.

I used what I had to get what I want.

Sell items of value at the local flea market.jewelry, music, items I never used but were sellable. Clothes, shoes, books, etc I also put an ad on Craigslist and the local free paper. $375.00

Made semi-precious stone jewelry and had my friend sell it at his job during lunch. luckily the materials were inexpensive to buy. I made $200.00

Worked as a market research interviewer for a few weeks. No skills except to speak English and follow directions. $300.00

Offer to house-keep, babysit,wash cars. $200.00

You get the idea. Do what you know how to do, tap into your creative side you may have friends that need help. See what happens you may actually hit something big and turn it into a small biz.

As for me, it hurt to part with some things but I made enough to pay 2mths rent.!!

Hope I helped some.

There are times when you do stand to save a lot of money such as when purchasing some high dollar ZR rated tires or something like a large mud tire, but for your application you won't save a dime. As you've found out, the shipping is a killer. On top of that, most places will charge more to mount and balance them if you did not buy the tires from them (never bring your own steak to a restaurant). But here's the biggest kicker. What do you do about warranty issues? How about the lifetime 6000 mile rotations that are included at most places? You stand to LOSE money doing business anywhere but locally.

Try washing neighbourhood cars, a paper run or try budgeting your money more wisely. Maybe see a financial counsellor to help you. You did not say where you are, ie what country you are in, many countries have crisis centres which will lend you money on a low income. Or could give you a no interest loan. Look in the phone directory

Go work for a Valet company or work as a telemarker. Even retail (might not pay well) but you will be able to maybe work some over time.

it's not the best thing to do .... but, the pay day loans are good as a last ditch effort. Just don't get hooked on them. The interest is crazy!!!
