MANY people vote for a person simply because of the color of a person's skin, simply because of their gender, and simply because of their nationality.

Please do not get me wrong. This is something I have noticed.

In the democratic primary, we have a Black, a woman, and a Mexican seeking the nomination. These are the strongest minorities (yes, women are considered a minority) which will no doubt cause a rift in the party.

What are your thoughts?

We are already seeing attacks on Obama which are doubtless racially motivated if not honest enough to say so. The complaint "He doesn't have enough experience" being the most obvious and transparent bit of racism. Compared to the rest of the field, he has plenty and had he more, the same people would likely complain "He's a political insider..."

I wish Barbra Jordan were available, or Ann Richards. There are two minority types that would have made the best president since Truman. Right now we have the worst since Harding, maybe the worst ever, and no prospects that offer much promise.

Lets be serious, how many people truly inform themselves on the isssues and follow politics?
Heck, a large people dont even spend enough time with their children. Even more cant find a way or the time or the energy to stay fit.

So the easy thing to do is watch T.V. and go from what they here, which is why politicians spend how much money on their propaganda campaigns?
Heck, most people dont even know what a crock FOX network is, because they dont sit watch intently, and compare it with the other networks. Then they will see how lopsided FOX is towards republicans and the president. Democrats are as bad as the terrorists to FOX network, yet its too simple to just sit back and watch some very welcoming personalities report how bad this country is because of the democrats.
Thats what a large group of people will base their votes on.

Even a broader amount of people who dont really care, only care about getting their vote in
I bet most people dont even know that the president doesnt win by popular vote.
Even though goverment class in high school taught everyone about the electoral college -- whos vote is the one that counts, but MTV and the like make people want to go out and voice their opinion, when they dont even know the politics or positions their vote for's take.

so its easy to vote for the woman since Im female, or not vote for the woman for whatever reason.
Or vote for the black because Im black.

Even though its too early to call, I think its fascinating that per the polls recently more people polled would vote for clinton then Obama

Actuallywhen I think of the black vote I do see a wide popualtion of people that would percieve obama as a white black man.
Thats just me. He comes off like a Bryant gumbell. One of those that was raised in white soceity, that truly cant relate to the wider black population that has large number of low incomed familes in it. And this is what will cause some indifference towards him by that black community that wont hold him in the same regard as being a black man who can relate to their needs.
So if obama is counting on the black vote, I say he has another thing coming to him.

As far as most people making a truly intelligent vote, based on knowing both sides, I wouldnt count on it.
Its too much effort
Which is why most politicians get away with as much as they do,or as high as they have.

I don't think so!! You going into the primries! Which means your going to have lots of contenders!! Before it gets we vote for who gets the party domination there will be a varity of oppionions. So yes agree and disagree it's not going to cause a rift. The three major canidates making the headlines are A woman, Black man, and someone who is hispanic in heritage. Being firsts does make news and headlines. However there are also other contenders in running for the DNC domination.
Many people are going to vote for the person they believe will take the white house. Even if they think one of the other canidates will be better. They want to have the canidate which will get their party in the white house. What you might find is people voting against gender, race, and heritage because they want their to party taking the white house.

I think if you are serious you should not look at the color, race or gender of the three candidates but instead look at how they stand on the issues that are important to you. To not vote for a candidate just because of the color of the persons skin or because of their gender is about as prejudice as one can be.

Being of that majority you imply. I have lived as a minority. Even with another minority, called Mom. Having met and got to know several other moms even in those minorities you mentioned, most of them are just as good as my mom.

I figure give mom a chance, I bet she can budget time and money. If we find a really good one, I bet she will also have the discipline to be fair.

All of those ways are absolutely the WRONG way to pick a winner. We must have a person who will really preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Anything less is not good enough! No candidate so far is worthy of one vote!

I think its a homer thing. Ok, sounds kind of strange but look at it like this. If you do any sports survey in the country, and ask which nfl team is going to be the best team next year, guarantee you will see that north carolina is saying the panthers are, tampa will say the bucs, and even detroit will say the frickin lions. The fact is, people look at things that are similiar. So, if you are a white male, which like 61 percent of all the voters are, They think, if a black man wins, that hurts me, if a mexican wins, then america will be overrun with mexicans, if a woman wins, itll be just like my household. lol.

Well in the republican party we have a black woman in high office. And a Mexican also in a very high office. But I never here anyone on the left ever say that was a great break through. In fact they do everything to berate them. Ms. Rice and Mr. gonzales have both done good jobs and have good charature otherwise the libs would have ridden them out of town on a rail a long time ago.

There are NO Mexicans in the race.

There is someone who's PARENTS came to the US from Mexico.
