my 4 month old hasnt done a poo in the last 2 days(this is day 3) he has gone at least once every day since he was born,he drinking well,im breastfeeding,ive started weaning him on pureed fruit and veg,could this be why?he just usually has a cube of veg with potatoe at 11am and fruit with rice in the evening,please help,im worried,thanks

4 months is very early for starting solids.
Pear juice helps.
You could try cutting back on the rice and potato too.

My daughter is 7 weeks old. She is also breastfed and her bowel movements began changing from 2-3 a day to 1 every few days about 2 weeks ago. Now she is having only 1 a week so far. My lactation consultant reassured me everything is fine as long as the poop isn't hard or pellet like and she's not straining too much. So just pay attention to how your baby reacts to the bowel movements and the end result and you all should be fine.Take care.

No Worries! This is all normal, I am sure that he will the next couple of days. My son had the same Problem, at the same age, he is now 8 months and doing great! His PediaTrician told us to give him 4oz of NON-deluted apple Juice, not baby apple Juice. But Regular. You can also try a couple spoon fulls of Proons. Good Luck! What a great age!

my daughter is 4 1/2 months old and I'm still introducing rice cereal to her. Because she is breast fed sometimes she would go a week without a bowel movement. Her pedi said it's normal for her since i nurse her and to give her BABY apple juice dilluted with water. Dillute half and half, my pedi said use baby apple juice because if you use grown up apple juice then you'll run into more problems.

don't worry, he will probably poo today or tomorrow. as long as your baby is well, not irritable, there is nothing wrong with him. you don't need to take him to the emergency. just wait, his tummy may just be adjusting to the new foods given to him. if he doesn't poo tomorrow, get a pedia dulculax suppository and insert it to his anus gently, that will make him poo in a little while. give him water to drink all the time.

rice cerial only at 4 months everything else is too starchy and causes constipation
