If the fever does not come down after the Tylenol or Motrin I would call the doctor in the morning. If Her fever gets over 103. Anything over 103 is getting too high.Call the doctor right away. I would also try giving her a tepid bath to help reduce the fever.

I remember getting MONO at around that age and I remember that the doctors said that at 103 the child needs a cold bath to cool down. At 101 it is common knowledge at schools that a child is not allowed to be at school they must go to the doctor. So 101 (age 5 is kindergarten age) is the stay home rest and heal number.. and anything higher is dangerous. ANYTHING over 103 is hospital.
I hope this helps!! If she stays at 102 don't worry let her sleep and let her heal... go by your dr's orders... yet remember to be your own doctor and make sure that you decide for yourself what is what.
If she gets to 103 call the nurse... she will explain how to get the fever to NOT go any higher. Also don't stress out the child.. stress is a big factor in sickness.. make sure she has fun and is fine and dandy as she can be.. smile and touch her.. psychology says touch is a VERY high healer.
good luck!!!

They actually say not to alternate them anymore. Im not really sure why but thats what the ER doc told me the other day with my daughter. An old wives tale is to put Vicks on her feet and put her socks back on. I dont know if it really works but it doesnt hurt to try it! Lay a cool rag on her head and alternate to the back of her neck. If it doesnt go down in about an hr or so, give her another half dose. Instead of the usual 4 to 6 hrs, they say its ok to give a half dose in between. Fever always rises at night anyways. I have no clue why. But if it still doesnt go down, and goes up instead, consider taking her back to the doc. Good luck.

like all of these people said 102 is really high but also if you did not do the temperature like the doctors do it you know anal then you have to add 3 so technically her fever would be at 105.1 and most of the time they say the brain shuts down.

Definitley 103. Sometimes a cool cloth on the forehead helps ease it up some. I dont guarantee it, but it might help. Just keep a real close eye her, and if you do the cloth keep it fresh. Hope she feels better real soon.

yes, as with anybody, they need plenty of bed rest, and chicken soup!
...but get her to the er, like people are saying, if it gets 104 or higher! That's pretty high for a person, child or not. =(
