My cursor moves on its own, what does this mean?

I have Windows 2k btw. Not sure if this is relevant.

mouse may be dirty..

If you re using optical mouse and use at glassy surface, white surface, the cursor will "dancing" try put in another surface.
If your mouse got a ball under it, it should require cleaning

Dirty mouse, Opti mouse on shiny surface, or, shared IRQ in the system.

I would run a LiveCD and see if it changes, http://pclinuxos.com
