I understand cheering and having game parties...supporting your teams..wearing their colors...
but what's the point in going to the extreme with criticizing others and carrying on and on about how good your team is and who they're going to beat, how many times they're going to beat them, and just plain and simple making a fool of yourself while doing all of this....
it's just recently been brought to my attention by the overwhelming amount of vain bears fans...and i understand every team has their horrible fans, though.
guess its a guy thing...

To men American Football is a gladiator sprot, like back in the Roman Era. You will cheer for you favorite Gladiator or team. Boasting that you have the best Gladiator or team every and that no one can beat them. Plus men act like there team is THERE team and who would not want to be a part of a winning team. Take this with a grain of salt, if the Bears where that good, lets see if next year they can return to the Super Bowl. Then that would be a mark of a good team, possibly being A Great Team.

City pride as well as loving the best game ever played. Its kinda like the Philly cheese steak, the Chicago or New York style pizza, and any southern bbq. Better yet look at the world cup soccer, the teams are representing their countries and even if they suck, 3rd world peice of crap country, the country stands behind them. Its not just a guy thing, its just that you obviously dont care that much about football and you dont understand how American NFL fans act around Super Bowl time or the regular season even.

Your right it is a guy thing, a fan or fanatic will say anything about his team and actually believe it no matter how stupid it is. But that is football for you, the number one sport in the best country of the world. You ask why, they give their all, broken arms, missing teeth, bloody noses they don't care, and they still lose and not get paid, it is the love they have for the game. I hope you love something so much that you would continue no mater what, that is why we get so worked up about football. GO 9ERS!!!!!

Rootin for my team every Sunday or Monday or Thursday is a joy. And when I watch it all my cares go away it is like I am on a 3 hour vacation or something.
As for we argue who team is better, I think it is for respect. I am a Redskins fan and we were some trash this year but I still prove to people that we are better then them, when I know we are not.

Sweetheart: Think of Soccer, in Europe & South America. Sometimes 50 or more people die at any given game, any given time. Football is tame,... compared too Gladiators!!!

My wife let me know that when my team LOSES she finds me more attractive, although I doubt the veracity of that statement, considering how infrequently she jumped into bed naked during that 13 year drought the Bengals suffered until 3 years ago!
