Prices do go down, but you can also get heavily discounted FULL versions of Vista right now (it's being shipped 1/30/07) for only $115 while the MSRP is $280 and all the major retailers are selling it for $240-250.

Here's a price comparison chart of various retailers selling Vista Home Premium: http://www.valupoint.com/weblog/2007/01/what-vista-actually-what-deal.html

Of course the upgrade package prices are cheaper and you can get other versions of Vista discounted as well - Vista Home, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate.

Hope that helps!

don't install windows vista yet because there may be bugs in the new release unless you are focusing on solving the bugs.
