Yes..... you never know why someone is homeless. I know that my Ex husband and I were almost homeless a few times.. and its really hard to understand it all unless you are in their place. Id bring him things if he tells you yes he does appreciate it. I wouldnt just bring the things out to him. And make sure that you do tell him where he can find a shelter... because I am sure he does not want to sleep where he is right now. Be careful because he still IS a stranger, that means make sure you do keep a good distance don't bring your wallet or anything and don't get too friendly. Showing love to someone like that is wonderful... I am so glad you asked this!!!
I would definately bring him food or the things he needs INSTEAD of money. Money can go to anything. You never know this guy could be a doctor. Honestly... it happens to way too many every day. Pray for him if you have a faith too.
Whatever you do for him I am sure you will be rewarded for... :) what goes around comes around.

The reason he is sleeping in the doorway instead of a nice warm shelter (which in this country 100% of the so called "homeless" have access to if they don't have frank welfare housing of their own) is that he wants to smoke crack cocaine....and that's not allowed in the shelter.
Understand this, if you understand nothing else. He looks upon your kindness as an opportunity to rob you, maybe hurt you. The people you see out on the street are bad people.....hardcore drug addicts and dangerous criminals. The real homeless are NEVER out on the street. It's too dangerous and, in a country like the US, services are extremely plentiful.
I spent many years working with this population in community mental health. I know what I'm talking about.
Stay the hell away from those people.....or else.

For sure-you are a good samaritan but if he is there other nights when it is cold, keep it up because one night of food comfort isn't going to last him the rest of the time. Maybe a local church could get involved or if you know about a Shelter you could direct him to,they also serve food and have beds available, anything to get him off the danger of the streets at night.

Do you live across the street from me? I think I just saw him. I was thinking some soup would be nice on a cold night, and sammiches go great with soup.

Yes but do remember the rule about feeding strays. Human or animal both tend to hang around when there is free food being given out.

yeah, that would be such a great thing to do. not much effort on your part but wow you would be making a huge difference in his life - definitely! Also, maybe try get hold of a shelter where he can sleep at night? wow, it just makes me realise how blessed we are hey - but we have that much more responsibility to help others because of all we have.

I would say yes.
If you need to ask, you obviously have a kind heart and since it's a pretty cold night that gives you reason.
