the bags have sort of a plastic zipper on the top, you may need to slide the piece over and the bags should open, if not try to rub the bags between the palms of your hands and the bag should separate.

They should have a plastic zipper on the top of the bag, kind of like the space bags.

If you can't pull them apart, most stuff is made in China now and doesn't work like they are supposed to, try sliding one side one way and the other side the other way, this will break the rib and they should work.
