Wow! I know what you're talking about! My aunt bought me one a long (long) time ago & it was awesome! (long before Ellen & Oprah) It has "arms" so you can eat, drink, etc. It was soooo warm, too! But it wasn't fleece, it's just like a sleeping bag with arms -- soooo comfy.
I've been trying to find one too!
Yikes...let's think....
Mine had snaps so you could do or undo as far as you wanted.

That sounds like the "couch sack" that was on Oprah's Christmas list several years ago (did it have foot holes, but was straight and otherwise closed across the bottom like a sleeping bag?).
I bought one, but wasn't too pleased. First, even the XL was WAY too short; the cuffs on mine really pilled up and got scratchy and uncomfortable; and it actually wasn't that comfortable unless you had pjs on underneath, which made me wonder why I needed the couch sack.
