Well, depends on the car. It could be a maintenence required symbol, e-brake indicator or anything else. I don't think it's trying to tell you your car has an idea ;-)
Best to consult your owners manual or call the dealer for an explaination. Don't put tape over it... but that was a funny answer though huh!

It's your handbrake symbol. It means that your handbrake is activated. If this is the first time you are seeing it, that means you've never activated your handbrakes before. If you drive like that, your brakepads will wear out and you'll smell smoke from your rear tire. Your car will also not be able to move much.
