Hi morning glory!
I, too, love reading, and own a large number of books.
Unfortunately, we can't stop the pages from yellowing, as this is mainly due to the type of paper the book is printed on.
Acid free papers, such as fine art lithos and bible paper won't yellow if kept in a mild, relatively dry environment, but the majority of mass printed books today, and virtually all paperbacks, WILL yellow with age in a short span of years, reguardless of what we do. Keeping them dry and cool, out of direct sunlight will slow the progress, but it will happen.
I've heard boxing books with mothballs is effective in preventing insect infestation, and a friend with some rather valuable volumes actually seals them in plastic after he sets the books out in a room that had been fogged...don't know if the chemicals wouldn't be worse than the bugs, over time, though.

stack them neatly in a moisture free area of your house and clean the area regularly to avoid those mites.
